African Tours and Safaris

Fleewinter's African Tours and Safaris was originally set up to help clients staying in our villas in Cape Town and on the Garden Route and wanted to see more of the country or go on safari. We have built up considerable expertise and have established a dedicated tours and safaris service.

As with all of our Fleewinter operations the website is intended just to provide a taster of our service and the options available, so rather than wade through hundreds of pages why not call us or an email for our personal recommendation.

  What, Where, When

The biggest challenge when planning any trip to Southern Africa is how to use your time. If you did everything that we offer it would take 6 months non-stop and a huge amount of traveling. So decide on your priorities. Are you after the ultimate big game experience, great food and hospitality, or stunning beaches and scenery? All can be achieved but it's important to strike the right balance. Have a look at our areas summary for a thumbnail of each of the regions and then there is more info under each area itself as well as some examples of our accommodation.

Personalised Service

All our itineraries are personalised and no two are the same. We will recommend a combination of accommodation options to suit and where possible we use our network of smaller guest houses and hotels, avoiding larger operations. If you browse our website you'll see examples of the accommodation and safaris we use and we have many more available.

Getting there and getting around

Getting to South Africa is easy with many direct flights from London and other European cities. Most of our clients use services to Johannesburg or Cape Town, although you can now also fly directly to Namibia - do call for advice. Flying around Southern Africa is easy with a great network of internal flights, with many operators offering very low prices - we usually arrange these for clients. For the shorter distances (and some of the longer ones) a car is recommended and whilst we can arrange for you to be driven (and would recommend this option in Botswana , parts of Namibia and trips to the Cape Winelands ) driving yourself is very easy. Connecting in the more remote parts of Southern Africa, like Mozambique, Zambia and some parts of Botswana usually involves a charter flight as the road networks are not yet as developed here. Although these services are slightly more expensive, the unique experience far out weighs the cost.
