Honestly this is a working trip

Two sunburnt bodies spent yesterday on a day excursion to Ang Thong National Marine Park. We went on a group tour of about 25 people for approx £40 per person to the cluster of 42 uninhabited limestone islands. It was a full day tour and included park entrance fees, lunch and drinks throughout the day, snorkeling and sea kayaking…but to be honest it wasn’t great. Even though we met some nice people, the boat was cramped and the snorkeling was poor. It was very touristy. I’m not sure what other options there are other than hiring a very expensive private speed boat but I have every intention to find out because the marine park itself really was lovely and worth visiting, especially the hidden emerald lake.

Today was my first day of real work. Spent the day with two lovely reps - Pia & Annie from Samui Villas and Homes, an upmarket rentals and property sales company. They are the most established company of their type on the island and run a very smooth operation. Together we went to inspect 10 villas and sampled the culinary skills of one of their in house chefs. Superb! All the villas were lovely, but the absolute highlight had to be the newly renovated Headland Villas. Light, bright and contemporary yet with traditional tones and absolutely stunning views. Details will be on the website the second I land back in the UK!!

Off to Samui’s neighbouring island tomorrow to explore two hotels on the unspoilt north coast. Only boats and dirt tracks to get us there. Speak soon.
