Morocco is traditionally quieter in the summer and there is a common misconception that it is too hot to have a good holiday – I have just got back from taking my family and kids (7,9) to the coast for a week and how wrong this image is. Admittedly central Marrakech is a bit steamy but even there we had one good day. The bulk of the week we spent by beach in the village of Sidi Kaouki just south of Essaouira and it is the perfect destination. It was 30 degree every day and quite breezy so never too hot to do anything. Weirdly even thought only 10 miles away we found Essaouira about 5 degrees colder so had to take a sweatshirt if we went there in the evening. I think it is caused by the wind coming off the sea in Essaouira so being cooler and containing more moisture whereas at Sidi Kaouki it comes off the land so is drier and a bit hotter. The perfect summer destination in Morocco!
