Why the guidebooks are wrong re taxis in Marrakech!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Fleewinter is warning customers of the urban myth which frequently appears in UK guidebooks to Morocco, which is that it is better to book a taxi in situ rather than through a tour operator or your hotel - it is not.  Fleewinter utilises a family-owned and run company for all its airport transfers in Marrakech which not only costs the same or even less than by trying to organise it yourselves, but it also means the driver knows exactly where he is going (something which is not always easily communicated!).

Comments Alisdair Luxmoore of Fleewinter: “Only last week I was sitting next to a guy on a flight to Marrakech who was unable to find his taxi at the airport.  He ended up calling his Riad from his UK mobile which probably added £8 - £10 to his taxi fare.  Most drivers can’t speak English or French so giving directions is impossible (plus there are over 500 Riads in Marrakech and they won’t know where they all are).  The metres are often broken making the fare something of a lottery and after they drop you close to the Riad – which are located down very narrow alleyways – you have to negotiate a second fare with a barrow boy to drop your bags at the accommodation (with us it is included); all in all, not a relaxing way to start a holiday.”

This free service (other than the cost of the taxi ride which is from £3.50 each way) is just one of the many advantages of booking a holiday through Fleewinter, which guarantees that all its prices are the same as, or cheaper than, booking direct.  Call 020 7112 0019 (www.fleewinter.com).

Fleewinter specialises in offering a concierge-style service with international and regional flights, car-hire, private chauffeurs, restaurant/concert/sporting bookings and baby sitting all available on request.  Booking through Fleewinter is the same price (or cheaper) than booking direct and its AITO membership means 100% financial protection.

In addition to Cape Town and the Garden Route Fleewinter also offers holidays to  Brazil, Bali, Barbados, the Maldives, Morocco, Norway, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, Thailand and Tobago.

New website at last!

Friday, October 16th, 2009

If you a regular visitor to Fleewinter you will have noticed a big change in the design and layout of our website this week. There has been a ton of work gone into it, so please let us know what you think, especially if you find any glitches or anything you thing we should be aware of. In particular we hope you like the new photography – we think it really brings our destinations to life. Special thanks to Julius Honor (www.juliushonnor.com.) for allowing us to use stunning images from his recent Morocco visit.
