Learn to cook like Jamie in Morocco – 4 nights from £390 pp

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

If Jamie Oliver’s portrait of Morocco and its amazing food on Channel 4 last night whetted your appetite, why not visit with Fleewinter AND learn to cook traditional meals while you are there?

Fleewinter offers cookery classes at a variety of destinations in Morocco including Marrakech and Essaouira (where the classes are free during the months of May and June).  The half day classes cost from £30 pp.

The cookery classes includes visiting the local souks with a chef to purchase ingredients and spices, just as Jamie did, before returning to the Riad for a private demonstration and lesson in making Traditional Moroccan tagines and salades.

The free course currently being offered at Essaouira includes accommodation at the brand new Rebali complex comprising 6 luxurious Riads, located in the village of Sidi Kaouki on the Atlantic coast (20 minutes south of Essaouira) and just 100 metres from the beach.

The 6 properties, which have from 2–5 bedrooms, have been built in a traditional Riad style but with high-tech functionality; all have private gardens, roof terraces, balconies and fully fitted kitchens where you do your cooking class.

The price of a four-night break is from £390 pp (2 sharing for bookings in May and June) which includes four nights’ B&B in a Riad, flights, transfers, a free half day’s cookery course and Fleewinter’s unique insider’s guide notes to Morocco (price for accommodation and cookery course only is £160 pp).

Fleewinter also offers cookery classes in Marrakech with accommodation from just £40 per person per night (2 sharing).

World Cup Price Crash! Prices slashed by almost £1800 per night

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Specialist tour operator Fleewinter reports that many of the villas and apartments that it offers for hire in Cape Town have dramatically reduced their prices as the FIFA World Cup approaches, in some instances by almost £1800 per night.

Comments Alisdair Luxmoore, Managing Director of Fleewinter:  “We did diplomatically try to tell the owners whose properties we manage that the prices they were asking during the World Cup were unrealistic, but our advice fell on deaf ears.

“Now, as the tournament draws ever nearer, I have never seen so much humble pie being swallowed and prices are coming down to a much more affordable level.”

For example, Camelot in the Constantia area has reduced prices from £3537 per day to £1768 per day (minimum 5 night stay). The 6-bedroomed house (sleeps 12) is in two acres of grounds.  Situated in the Cape Peninsula National Park forest, on the slopes of Table Mountain it also has two swimming pools (outdoor and indoor) and panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, Winelands and surrounding mountains.

A five night stay at Villa Lyonesse, a huge 8 bedroomed, 8 bathroom mansion, which sleeps 18 and is also in the Constantia area, now costs £8840 from an original asking price of £17,685.  This works out to just £492 per person when fully occupied.

Fleewinter has hundreds of properties in Cape Town sleeping from 2 people to 20+; many are within walking distance from Green Point Stadium where England will play Algeria on 18 June.

For further information on accommodation in Cape Town during the FIFA World Cup call Fleewinter on 020 7112 0019 (www.fleewinter.com).

Fleewinter specialises in offering a concierge-style service with international and regional flights, car-hire, private chauffeurs, restaurant/concert/sporting bookings and baby sitting all available on request.

Booking through Fleewinter is the same price (or cheaper) than booking direct and its AITO membership means 100% financial protection. In addition to Cape Town and the Garden Route Fleewinter also offers holidays to  Brazil, Bali, Barbados, the Maldives, Morocco, Norway, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, Thailand and Tobago.

Fleewinter adds Dar Jaguar to Marrakech portfolio

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Fleewinter has added the spectacular riad Dar Jaguar, owned by internationally acclaimed designer Lucia Silver, to its portfolio of top-notch properties in Marrakech.

Completely renovated, the ancient property is a perfect example of a traditional Moroccan guesthouse.  Conveniently located in the heart of the Old Medina in Marrakech, it neighbours the exotic Place des Epices (spice market) and is under a five-minute stroll from the famous Jemma el Fna Square, which bursts into life at dusk every evening when the food stalls, musicians and snake charmers arrive to ply their trade.

The riad has a slightly unusual blend of traditional North African Moorish architecture with a touch of the Orient. Built around a central courtyard, there are palm trees inter twined with bougainvillea which drape onto an antique marble fountain.

Dar Jaguar offers four spacious en suites and one Royal Suite, as well as three different salons and a large sundrenched roof terrace with a magnificent view over the city. There is also a plunge pool set under the ancient carved woodwork and huge Syrian chandelier designed by the owner.

The Riad has a full complement of staff including a talented chef (Fatiha), chauffeurs, masseurs, beauty technicians and tour guides; personal shoppers can also be arranged as requested.

Fleewinter has a special introductory price of £125 per room per night (with the exception of the Royal Suite which is £180 per night). Based on two sharing.

Fleewinter can organise flights on request and recommends that private taxi transfers are booked through them before leaving the UK. This is not only cheaper (contrary to guidebook advice) but more reliable and ensures a hassle-free start to the holiday.

Fleewinter can also organise trips to the coast, treks in the Atlas Mountains (with private guide plus mules), and personal shoppers in Marrakech.

For further information call 020 7112 0019 (www.fleewinter.com).

Lucia Silver’s boutique opens inside Dar Jaguar after Easter bringing the best of her exquisite loungewear, kaftans and jewellery from the London business, State of Grace. Fleewinter guests can enjoy a 15% discount in both London and Marrakesh. www.thestateofgrace.com.
