Holidays to the Maldives – Maldives Hotels, Flights and Excursions

For sun worshipers, dive enthusiasts, romancing couples or families looking for a hassle free escape, a holiday to the Maldives is ideal. Luxurious and simple the Maldives epitomise the perfect beach holiday. At Fleewinter we have carefully selected a handful of island resorts that we feel really live up to people’s expectations of a holiday to the Maldives. Stunning surrounds, excellent service, superb facilities and utter tranquillity. To discuss your holiday to the Maldives in more detail please give us a call (0207 112 0019) or send an email. We'll be more than happy to go through the logistics with you and recommend the most suitable island resorts for your holiday - most clients find it much

With so much choice in the Maldives we’ve done the leg work on your behalf, sifted through the good, the bad and the ugly and brought you our favourites.  We have focused on the centrally located North & South Male Atolls because they can be easily accessed by speedboat from Male International Airport in less than 45mins, keeping transfer times after a long flight to a minimum and eliminating the need for costly seaplane transfers. Having said that, we are able to book any resort in the Maldives, so please let us know if you have selected a particular favourite that we do not have listed.

Whilst a holiday in the Maldives is unavoidably pricey, we have selected hotels that we believe still offer excellent value for money. There are some slightly more affordable options available, but we felt that with such stunning imagery associated with The Maldives these less impressive hotels ran the risk of leaving guests disappointed.  Therefore a holiday in the Maldives is not something you can really do by halves. If possible it’s worth saving those few extra pennies to truly experience the ultimate getaway.
Most people come to the Maldives looking for nothing more than total relaxation and opt to stay put on one of the island resorts for the duration of their trip. If however, you are staying for a two week period it is sometimes a nice idea to divide your time between two different islands, perhaps in different Atolls or on one that is slightly larger than the other. Alternatively, why not incorporate a safari cruise into your holiday taking a few nights out to stay onboard one the stunning yachts that charter the Maldivian seas.

For those of you looking for culture as well as pristine white beaches and crystal clear waters, why not speak to our resident Sri Lanka expert and consider the possibly of doing a dual centre holiday. With just a 45 minute flight between Colombo International Airport and Male you can have the best of both worlds and come back feeling like you have really seen too completely different sides to life in the Indian Ocean.
Numerous international and local flights arrive at Male International airport every day. Emirates, Qatar, Sri Lanka Air and Air Seychelles are the most frequent. Many also come via Colombo in Sri Lanka and take just under an hour making a two centre holiday between the two countries very easy.

Once you arrive in Male You will be met on arrival by one of our island staff. They will see that you are directed to your island transfer. Most of the North and South Male holiday islands can be reached by speedboat in under 45mins. Speedboat transfers to other outer Atolls can take several hours. Seaplanes are quicker but they don’t fly after dark which can be inconvenient if your flight arrives late and you have to spend an evening at the airport hotel.
The Maldives is consistently warm throughout the year with average temperature around 29 - 32 degrees Celsius.
With only light monsoon rains during the summer season the Maldives is considered a year round destination, with November – April being the best time to travel. The rainy season runs from May to August, with June and July being the worst affected, although the monsoon rains consist more of short sharp showers with a tendency for the skies to be over cast in the morning, rather than prolonged down pours. Finally, September and October are ideal for people who want the weather to be dry but not at its most intense. Temperatures tend to be a little cooler in the mid-twenties during these months.

Please note that the schedule for diving and snorkelling follows a similar calendar. The best underwater visibility will be found from December – May, with the possibility in April/May of spotting Sperm Whales.  May-Nov brings larger swells and strong winds, which can make diving on exposed reefs difficult, but the protected lagoons are still accessible.
