The Maldives is consistently warm throughout the year with average temperature around 29 - 32 degrees Celsius.
With only light monsoon rains during the summer season the Maldives is considered a year round destination, with November – April being the best time to travel. The rainy season runs from May to August, with June and July being the worst affected, although the monsoon rains consist more of short sharp showers with a tendency for the skies to be over cast in the morning, rather than prolonged down pours. Finally, September and October are ideal for people who want the weather to be dry but not at its most intense. Temperatures tend to be a little cooler in the mid-twenties during these months.
Please note that the schedule for diving and snorkelling follows a similar calendar. The best underwater visibility will be found from December – May, with the possibility in April/May of spotting Sperm Whales. May-Nov brings larger swells and strong winds, which can make diving on exposed reefs difficult, but the protected lagoons are still accessible.
