It is easy to miss the entrance to this stunning house, a fact which adds to its charm. Once inside, the elegance and subtle design are immediately striking. The house has an inner atrium which is almost like a pergola. Bougainvillea tumbles down from the top floor, adding a bright splash of colour.

On the ground floor the light provided by this open central space adds to the sense of calm. The salons and living spaces are sumptuous, created with a designer’s eye. Paintings by local artists are hung on several walls. Here at any time of day, you can sink back into one of the comfortable sofas and enjoy a glass of delicious mint tea and home-made pastries. Evening meals are available on request and are a mouth-watering reflection of all that is best about Moroccan cuisine. Breakfast too (included in the price) is a feast and can be taken in your room, on the terrace or at the dining table.

On the first and second floors, the six bedrooms radiate out from the gallery which runs around the central atrium. All rooms are well-furnished and have luxury, well-equipped en-suite bathrooms.

There is also a spacious suite on the top floor that is perfect for a longer stay or for a couple with a child

Furnished and decorated by the craftsmen of Essaouira, this 3-bed room is bathed by light thanks to its two windows opening on a peaceful alley. Situated on the 2nd floor of the house, it is adorned with shades of green, bronze, bordeaux and white. Room Piment

Room Pourpre

Room Ciel
Furnished and decorated thanks to the know-how of the Moroccan craftsmen, this double and spacious room benefits from four windows offering an open view of the roofs of the medina from both horizons. It is decorated in tones of blue, beige and white, and includes a comfortable double bed and a corner fireplace with armchairs. The en-suite bathroom has a seated shower. Room Ocean
A touch of Moroccan antiques, some typical objects from Essaouira, and here you are in a spacious and bright double room. In the 1st floor of the house, its windows look on to a quiet alley. It is decorated with shades of blue, beige and white and its corner fireplace is furnished with an armchair. The private bathroom is equipped with a seated shower. Suite Lavande
Very spacious and bright suite looking on to the flowery patio and on to the medina. A big private sitting-room welcomes you first with 3 sofa-beds, a dining area where you can have breakfast, a library, a TV and a DVD reader. Situated in the 3rd floor of the house, it is decorated with grey, pink, bordeaux and white colours. The bedroom, coated with traditional tadelakt, benefits from a double bed with dorsal comfort, a fireplace and a bathroom with bath tub. You also have a real dressing room and separate toilets. All guests have access to the roof terrace at the top of the house. There are stunning 360° views of the medina and Atlantic Ocean.

The staff are extremely helpful and will cater to all your needs. Don’t hesitate to ask for advice on where to go and what to see in and around Essaouira.

It is possible to rent the whole house (7 rooms sleeping 17). Prices available on request.

If travelling by car, you will need to park in one of the public parking spaces outside the medina and walk to the house, as no cars are allowed inside the medina walls.

The property is located 190 km from Marrakech (& airport), 170 km from Agadir (& airport).

Essaouira was also fantastic. Again the Riad was a peaceful haven where we both felt safe, comfortable and very very welcome. Clean, fresh and immaculately decorated. Enjoyed the slower pace of this seaside town and didn’t do very much, which was what we had planned.
