Description of rooms
Le Sable et l'Écume, which has an extraordinary polychromatic, 6-metre high ceiling hoisted above intricate panels of chiselled muqarna plasterwork, this room is romantic with a capital 'R'. With vases of freshly cut roses, a carpet of rose petals strewn at the base of its bed, babouches and hooded bathrobes as well as monogrammed towels and Egyptian satin sheets and triple bank of feather pillows, it felt like Cupid's own room.
Le Jardin des Roses is also on the ground floor and has the same high ceilings: this room has a 4-poster though its bathroom is slightly smaller with a shower taking the place of a bath tub.
Les Amants de Grenade is another huge double with ornately carved wooden bedhead, easy chairs and tables. Its bathroom is reached down a flight of steps where you'll find a tub big enough for two.
Le Chant des Chants is also a splendidly ornate courtyard-facing suite with a 4-poster and fabulous bathroom finished in green, white and black zellig.
Citadelle is slightly smaller but still has plenty of space for slotting in a 4-poster bed: it has a smaller shower room with floor to ceiling golden-coloured tadlakt and a striking beijmat floor.
All of the suites' decorative style is similar to that of Le Sable et l'Écume with furnishings gathered on travels through the Mahgreb, India, Egypt and Syria as well as gorgeous hand-painted wardrobes: these were made in situ in Abdelfattah's joinery workshop to his own.
Note: Extra beds can be added in the suites
