Dar Doukkala is different from most of the riads in the Medina and if you are looking for the current fashion for Moroccan-meets-minimalism it isn't for you. That said it has a number of features that make it a favourite with our clients. The rooms are larger than average and get much more natural light than usual in the Medina. Also Dar Doukkalla has one of the nicest swimming pools in the medina, in its own area rather than the middle of a rather too public courtyard. If you are still not convinced, it size means the terrace is higher than average so you get some of the best Medina and Atlas Mountains views
The style is a blend of traditional Moroccan and art deco styles. It has a timeless feel partly due to the richness of the architecture – wood panelling, heavy wooden doors and intricate stucco work. The restoration is exquisite. On the ground floor there is a large and shady tiled courtyard, full of tropical plants. Adjacent to this are two spacious salons, decorated in rich colours and with inviting sofas and chairs covered in plump cushions. On the upper floors are the 4 double rooms and 2 suites, each of which has air conditioning, and central heating and a chimney for the colder winter months. Each room is individually schemed and stylishly decorated in a subtle mixture of Arabic and art deco antique furniture. Every room has an en-suite bathroom, all with bath and some also with shower. The two suites are ideal for a family with children and have excellent private outside space - more like an apartment than a hotel room The carefully landscaped terrace is split level and has amazing views over the medina and across to the Atlas Mountains beyond. The main attraction here is the swimming pool (pool towels provided), which is very welcoming after a day spent exploring the city. There is also a traditional style hammam. You can take breakfast in your room, on the terrace, or in the courtyard. There is no restaurant but dinner is available on request and can be served wherever you choose. The property is located in Marrakech, just 20 minutes by car from the airport.

Thanks so much for organising our holiday. We had a really great time.
The Riad was absolutely fantastic in all respects. Only drawback is the continuous puzzlement that I now have to live in rooms of less than 20 ft in height and without carving and tiling from the Arabian knights in all directions.
And what happened to my fountain!!!!
Thanks so much.
