Nestled right in the heart of the northern medina Darhani is an elegant 4 bedroom riad with a small heated pool (heated from March - November) and beautiful central courtyard.

Darhani translates as ‘house of tranquillity’ and it is certainly a space where you can relax away from the frenetic activity of the medina and souks, which are just minutes from your doorstep. The entrance to the house lies off a small road and leads through a stunning tadelakt hallway to the courtyard. This is a peaceful space where you can relax around the small, heated plunge pool.

On the ground floor is a cosy sitting room with a fireplace for the winter months, a dining and music room where a piano and guitar await those guests with a musical bent – and the blue room, where you can collapse into sumptuous banquettes of deep blue velvet and wind down after a day’s sight-seeing or shopping.

The riad has been very tastefully decorated throughout with modern accessories which lend an air of style to each room. There are four bedrooms, one of which, the Courtyard Bedroom, is located on the ground floor and opens out on to the central courtyard. This double room has an en-suite bathroom with shower as well as air-conditioning and heating.

On the first floor are another three bedrooms, each beautifully decorated, uncluttered, with uncompromising style and each with heating and air conditioning. The Mistress’s Bedroom has a large ornate iron bed and a seating area with a luxurious banquette which can be used as an extra bed if required. The cool cream and black en-suite bathroom has a corner bath with shower.

The Walnut Room contains a large walnut bed and complementary furnishings. The sultry deep red bathroom has a large circular bath/shower just right for those who enjoy decadent bathing.

The third bedroom on this floor is the Twin Bedroom, which has a large built-in wardrobe at the back of the room. The en-suite bathroom has a shower.

The first floor is also home to the ‘Indian’ Room, where a large exotic Indian-style day bed under an ornate painted ceiling provides a tempting place to relax, take tea or doze. There is another seating area at the end of this room, where you can tuck yourself away to read or catch up on the day’s events.

There is a large terrace with space for sun-bathing and a beautiful tented area for eating, drinking or enjoying music in the evenings. There are fantastic views over the medina and in clear weather the views to the majestic Atlas Mountains beyond are spectacular.

Breakfast and afternoon tea and cakes, as well as unlimited bottled water, tea and coffee are included in the price of the room, and lunch or dinner can be provided on request and prepared by the house’s cook. Meals can be Moroccan or western style. A new vegetarian menu has just become available.

You will be welcomed to Darhani by an English member of staff, who will be happy to help you with any query you have about where to shop, good restaurants, best sights and so on.

A car is available to collect you from the airport on request.

You can rent the whole riad (sleeps 9) for a minimum stay of three nights. Prices are available on request.

The property is located in Marrakech, just 20 minutes by car from the airport.
