Riad Magellan is stunning. It is a privately owned riad tastefully decorated using a careful combination of Moroccan objects and interesting artefacts from around the world found on the owners’ various travels.

Riad Magellan comes as somewhat of a surprise, situated as it is behind an unassuming heavy old door. Step through this entrance and you enter a lovely courtyard, whose subtle style reflects the décor throughout the riad. It is easy to find space to relax in the salon or one of the quiet corners tucked away around the riad. The dining room is another stylish space. Eat breakfast here or on the terraces and enjoy a good start to the day - the coffee is reputedly unbeatable. Other meals are available on request.

The terraces have great views over the medina and one of them has a pleasant pool (an outdoor bath), which is very welcome in the summer months. Massages are also available.

The six bedrooms are all colour coded and bear the name of the colour which features in their decoration. Each is decorated is muted tones with accent colours which are reminiscent of the those found in the souks of the medina.

Thank you so much for all your help in organising our stay, it really was brilliant. For our forst time to Marrakech, it certainly was an assault on the senses, but we got right into the swing of things after about 2 hours of bumbling around and loved it. The Ryad was, without a doubt, a beautiful oasis of calm and tranquility in a city of colourful action and the service was impeccable.
