Dar Zaman

Dar Zaman is a recently renovated 4 bedroom riad, immaculately decorated and has an air of peaceful serenity.

The riad is located in the northern part of the Marrakech medina, in the very authentic 'quartier' of Sidi Ben Slimane, close to the Sidi Ben Slimane mosque. Tucked away at the end of a peaceful derb (cul-de-sac) away from the regular tourist trail and street noise, it’s easily accessible by taxi (taxi available 2 minutes walk from riad) and an easy 10 minute stroll to the Medersa Ben Youssef, Marrakech Museum and entrance to the main Souks area - the main square is about 15 minutes walk.

The décor is clean and simple, and all the furniture has been designed and produced locally by Marrakech artisans. The centre courtyard has a plunge pool and fountain, with a sitting area between the columns in one corner, perfect for taking breakfast or afternoon tea. Both the salon and salle à manger have fireplaces, and a third smaller salon is equipped with satellite TV. Wi-fi is available throughout the riad. There’s also an iPod docking station in the salon.

The riad offers four compact double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom and air conditioning. All the beds are queen size and are tastefully dressed with quality linens and local sabra. Each room is equipped with a digital safe. Three bedrooms are on the first floor, the fourth is on the terrace.

La Carbone
This large bedroom looks out onto the courtyard and plunge pool from its private balcony. The bathroom is finished in dark grey tadelakt while the bedroom features fresh white walls with a floor of natural tadelakt.

La Terrasse
La Terrasse is located on the terrace of the riad. The bathroom features a light brown tadelakt while the bedroom walls are finished in fresh clean white. Small and snug, yet with a queen size bed and built-in space for clothes and personal effects, La Terrasse opens directly onto the terrace, making the terrace itself an extension of the room when everyone else is fast asleep…

La Douiria
This large bedroom offers its own corner fireplace crafted from natural tadelakt. The bathroom and two of the bedroom walls are finished in the same tadelakt, providing a peaceful sense of calm and wellbeing.

La Baignoire
This double room features a queen size bed surrounded by fresh white walls. The bathroom is accessed through an arched doorway and features a large bathtub crafted from natural tadelakt.

The terrace is delightful and offers the opportunity for sunbathing and lounging surrounded by olive, lemon and palm trees, hibiscus and jasmine, with views over the medina rooftops to the Koutoubia Mosque and on a clear winter day, stunning views of the High Atlas mountains in the distance.

Breakfast is included and consists of fresh orange juice, crépes, bread and croissants, homemade yoghurt, jams, mint tea and coffee. Excellent lunch and dinners are available with advance notice. Guests can dine in the courtyard, on the terrace, or in the salon.

Dar Zaman is English owned and is personally managed by the owner. While operating as a guesthouse, the riad is also available for exclusive rental.
