If you only have a few nights to spare then a trip to Marrakech offers the perfect short-break, only 3 hours from London yet a time-warp away. Step off the plane and back in time to a medieval city of bustling souks, snake charmers, story-tellers enveloped in the heady smell of incense and spices. For those wanting to fully immerse themselves in this unique environment, a stay in a traditional Marrakech Riad within the medina is best, where an unexpected tranquillity lies behind thick walls and heavy wooden doors. Or else stay just outside the medina walls in a more rural location in a boutique villa or hotel or even a luxurious 'posh' tent.
Marrakech Medina - 3 nights in a traditional riad within the medina makes you perfectly situated to enjoy all the cultural, historical and sensuous experiences of vibrant Marrakech. This trip allows you to spend time exploring the souks with a personal shopper, admire the beauty of the Koutoubia Mosque tower, relax in the Majorelle Gardens and sample the endless variety of traditional foods at the Place Jemaa el-Fna. A firm favourite in the mid-range and boasting one of the largest pools in the medina is Riad Chergui. Or for those wanting a bit more luxury, in a super trendy and romantic setting, Riad Meriem comes highly recommended.
Marrakech Rural - Enjoy greater space and tranquillity - yet still be close enough to the action of the medina - in one of the rural areas on the outskirts of Marrakech. Choose to stay in a luxury posh tent perfectly positioned between Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains at Jardin D'Issil or for pure indulgence and escapism, stay in the romantic Dar Zemora - one of our favourite places anywhere in the world.
As always these are just suggested itineraries to give you an idea of what is available and what can be achieved. For expert personal advise please give us a call on 0207 112 0019 or email us.

A week is a perfect length of time to visit Morocco and allows you to experience a greater variety of Moroccan life and topography. We highly recommend a two-tiered stay, combining the unmissable Marrakech with some time to relax either somewhere in the Atlas Mountains or by the coast in Essaouira. Or if Marrakech really appeals and has gotten under your skin, why not spend the entire week there, but mixing a stay in the medina with a stay in one of the rural outskirts, such as in the Palmeraie.
Marrakech, Atlas Mountains and Desert -Spend your first few nights exploring the medieval city of Marrakech, soaking up its vibrant African-Arab-European culture. Once drunk with the heady atmosphere of city life, head out towards the mountains and desert to experience a much simpler and rural way of life. A stay in a Berber hospitality centre or traditional mountain guesthouse, allows you to immerse yourself in Berber culture amongst some fantastic scenery, perfect for walking off those earlier week excesses. Not forgetting, a camel trek in the Sahara dunes and a night under the stars is a highlight of any Moroccan trip. Click for an example Marrakech, Mountains and Desert itinerary
Marrakech and Essaouira - Marrakech is a city which has to be experienced, but people often find that after a few nights, they are now ready for a quieter pace of life. This is why we recommend combining a stay in the Marrakech medina with a relaxing break by the coast - probably our clients’ favourite Morocco Holiday. Essaouira is a lovely beach town only 2 ½ hours away from Marrakech but worlds apart in terms of its laid-back lifestyle, still largely untapped by the growing tourist market. The 'windy city' is perfect for water sports enthusiasts or for those just wishing to pass the time pottering through the narrow street markets and strolling along the sea front. Marrakech Medina and Rural - This is a double-dosage of Marrakech but why not when there is so much to experience and discover and keep the travelling to a minimum? Spend the first half of your stay soaking up the atmosphere of the medina only to spend the last half of your stay relaxing by a pool and in gorgeous gardens, knowing the medina is not far away should you wish to take 'just one more' visit to the souks.. Marrakech, Taroudant, Agadir and Essaouira - This trip is dedicated for those who love to travel and is called by Fleewinter “Moroccan Circle”. Depend on the starting city (Marrakech or Agadir. ) the tour is carried down from Marrakech to the south over the Atlas Mountain passing to the city of Taroudant then to the coast (Agadir) and up to the north but still on the cost line to Sidi Kaouki by Essaouira.
The tour is design to show Moroccan cities and culture, each of the cities has something new to offer: Marrakech with its vibrant and busy feel is not to be missed, Taroudant quiet but still full or Moroccan history, Agadir destroyed in 1960 by massive earthquake is very modern an finally Essaouira with its relaxing and laid back atmosphere. All of these are comfortably doable in 6 - 7 nights, but if you have a few extra nights to spare you can easily combine them all in and have a completely rounded trip without pushing yourselves too much, a 10 night trip can easily accommodate this. You have got two weeks, why not do it all? We recommend with this length of time you include all the places mentioned on one week itineraries plus Fes for its cultural, historical and indeed visually appealing charms.
Fes - Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Desert- Essaouira - This is the most varied of the itineraries where you get to experience the diversity of Moroccan life and landscapes. Rich culture and history, vibrant city life, mountain treks, camel rides in the Sahara and lazing by the coast are all on the agenda in this two-week trip. This trip includes your own personal English-speaking driver for the mountain and desert part of the tour (though personal car hire can also be arranged).
