Fleewinter Cape Town Newsletter

Cape Town is our original destination and we are very proud of our range of places to stay and the service we offer. We still think the best way to enjoy the Cape is to take a villa or apartment and use this as a base to explore or just chill out. You get all the space and privacy at a fraction of the price of a equivalent hotel - below are a selection of our favourites and some new offerings. There are hundreds to choose from and rather than wading through webpages give us a call (UK 0207 112 0019) for our suggestions

When on the beach is on the beach

When we talk about a beach villa or apartment in Cape Town we usually mean across-the-road from the beach but this Clifton Beach Cottage really is right on the beach. And what a beach! Public access is tricky so it feels very private and best of all it is sheltered from the infamous south-easterly wind. All this is just 5 minutes drive into the centre of town. No tents in Camps Bay

Camps Bay is still the number one place to stay for our Cape Town clients and the combination of stunning scenery, beautiful beach and fantastic restaurants is hard to beat. Most of our owners invest relentlessly in improving the quality and it is difficult to pick out favourites. A stunning new 3 bedroom villa for us is La Grange. We particularly like the location giving the best view of the 12 Apostles mountain range.

But what about something more tent-like in price?

Whilst most of our Camps Bay properties are well into the 5-star category. It is still possible to get good value particularly if you avoid the New Year period. A favourite for couples is the great value Gratitude Villa with mini-apartments from around £80 per night. For families the Oceane two-bedroom apartments are our biggest sellers in Camps Bay at around £600 per week

Different parts of Cape Town

Cape Town isn’t just Camps Bay and Clifton, and in some ways location isn’t that important as so many of the attractions are a short drive away from where you are based. Some client favourites over the years are the smart little Big Bay Penthouse with stunning views of Table Mountain from £500 per week or only an hour away but a world apart is the village of Franschoek with its obscene number of top class restaurants. We regularly arrange for clients to spend a couple of nights there but for serious eating a drinking, have a whole week based right in the village in the Riebeck House.

Big Villas at Small Prices

Over the years we have a number of clients who like the privacy and space of a large villa even if they don’t need all the bedrooms. We have been able to solve this by persuading some of our owners to do reduced rates for “under-occupancy”. Probably the best of these is the fabulous “Seventy-seven” villa in Gordons Bay which for a couple is only £1000 per week in high season. Other places that offer reduced rates for under-occupancy are the new Kommetjie House and in Camps Bay, Bakoven Sunsets – Gives us a call for rates

Planning a trip to South Africa in next few months?

The next few months may not be the best time for Cape Town but it is the perfect time for game viewing in the Kruger area as the bush is less dense so it is easier to see the animals. We have some great deals up to 25% off the normal rates at stunning lodges like Exeters Dulini and River Lodge and Kirkmans Camp.
