WHAT ITS GOT
Vil Uyana is based around a traditional Sri Lankan village with 25 spacious dwellings in four habitats. There are 3 over water dwellings with private decks that jut out over channels full of lotus flowers. 12 paddy field/mash dwellings are built on stilts and have private decks and plunge pools. Finally, 10 forest dwellings each have 2 storeys with private pools.
The dwellings are in keeping with the lush tropical environment, connected by wooden walkways, with timber flooring, ceilings of bamboo and sloping roofs thatched with coconut palm. At the same time they are extremely luxurious and fully equipped with air-con, IDD telephone, mini bar, 29'' flat screen TV and satellite channels, coffee/tea making facilities, Bose DVD/CD Home Entertainment system, electronic safe, and even your own sarong, pair of reed slippers and umbrella.
FOOD & DRINK
Vil Uyana has two restaurants to choose from. The Apsara is furnished in teak with spectacular views for all day fine dining. The Sulang is a relaxed cafe for light bites and drinks. Other dining options include Spa dining at the Island Spa, Signature dining on the deck within the privacy of your own dwelling, Cellar dining at Vil Uyana's excellently-stocked wine cellar, and outdoor dining at the Kamatha by the paddy fields, where a typical village rice and curry meal is offered on a banana leaf. Sri Lankan rice and curries and international cuisine is on offer at the hotel. A special vegetarian menu is also available
FUN & GAMES
On site Vil Uyana has a great library filled with numerous titles including books on Sri Lanka and sits beside a lotus-filled pond. In addition, the Island Spa & Wellness Centre consists of a fully-equipped a/c gym surrounded by water, a yoga pavilion, and a wellness centre headed by an Ayurvedic Physician.
Vil Uyana is closely situated to many of the heritage sites in Sigiriya, Dambulla, as well as Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. A bicycle trail runs through quaint hamlets providing an insight into rural life. Morning walks along the Sigiriya bird trail takes you through to the foothills of the Sigiriya Rock and the Sigiriya tank. An in-house naturalist can take guests on guided nature walks and excursions.
