Originally designed by a leading Australian architect Kingsley's Pearl is one of the most established villas in Sri Lanka. It recently changed hands and the new owners have done a fantastic job of refreshing the interiors and bringing the villa's amenities bang up to date.
There are 5 bedrooms [4 doubles and 1 twin] plus a couple of role away beds. The master bedroom could not be closer to the beach and you will drift off, and waken, to the sound of the surf. It has a small private terrace with seating. Most of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, bar the 3rd bedroom which shares a bathroom with the 5th bedroom. All have air-conditioning.
A large swimming pool sits at the heart of the villa surrounded by a courtyard style walk way. On one side of the pool are the bedrooms and sitting room whilst the other side is a covered verandah ideal for dinner or relaxing during the day. Beyond that a modest garden strewn with coconut trees falls way to the beach.
In the sitting room the owners have installed a 40 inch flat-screen, a surround sound system, DVD player and a DVD library with games. There is also a flat-screen in the main bedroom with 60 channels of pay TV available on both screens. Free Wifi is available throughout the house and there is a safe in two fo the bedrooms.
There is a fully equipt modern kitchen and the villa comes fully staffed including a private cook. The cook/manager is very capable, speaks good English and provides excellent western dishes as well as fabulous curries. Discuss your requirements with him daily and he will shop at the local fish, fruit and veg markets accordingly. You will provide him with a kitty for this and all change/receipts will be return to you.

"We stayed at Kingsley's Pearl, which has a cloistered swimming pool. It is open to the elements and the breeze comes off the sea and cools the properties. To fall asleep and awaken to the plangent Indian Ocean is to be transported to a calmer place. Every need is catered for with your hosts buying fruit and fish from the market and turning them into sumptuous feasts." (Will Buckley, The Observer - Feb 07)
