In terms of accommodation Auraliya has six double bedrooms. Beachside there are two family suites, which include two double bedrooms with a conduit bathroom. The front bedrooms on either side have eight foot square family size four-poster beds. The second bedrooms to each of these family suites open on the walkways overlooking the swimming pool. One room has a double bed, the other a double and a single bed. There are two additional suites opposite the dining pavilion; one with twin four-poster beds, the other with a large double four poster bed.
All bedrooms have air-conditioning, cupboards, shelves and a built in window seat. Four of the bedrooms have electronic safes to store valuables and every bedhead is lockable.
All bedrooms have spacious en suite bathrooms, tastefully designed with a white terrazzo finish and modern fittings. In every bathroom there are double basins, a bath, a shower and a central fan. Imported towel rails in each bathroom ensure that damp towels and swimsuits are dry and ready to go in no time!
Living and accommodation areas are arranged around three large pavilions. The first provides a formal dining area with stunning views over the azure swimming pool in the garden to the glittering Indian Ocean beyond. Seating is flexible – either one large table for everyone or two separate configurations for adults and children. The choice is yours and the staff are more than happy to accommodate your changing requirements.
The middle pavilion provides a central chill-out area which is an ideal location for both socialising and serenity. Invisible by day, at night the fibre optics embedded in the pool mean that the stars twinkle both above and below you.
Finally there is an ambalama-style bar overlooking the beach providing the perfect setting for breakfast, lunch or sundowners. Watch the sun set, glass in hand, as your children crab hunt on the beach. The view from here is magical – day or night.
There is also a air-conditioned tv/study room within the main house which has Wifi, DVD libary etc...
The villa comes fully staffed including a manager, private cook, houseboys and a night watchman who will take care of you during your stay. Meal plans will be discussed with you and prepared accordingly. The cook will operate a float system with you and all food is charged at cost making it extremely reasonable.
With regards things to do at the villa, the reef-protected beach offers endless possibilities for beach fun. Sand castles, body boarding, surfing and swimming will keep you entertained for hours in the sun. Or spend your days lying by the pool reading or swimming. A large garden provides a virtual playground for games of cricket and football. Or sit and play cards in one of the pavilions enjoying the view.
Numerous watersports are on offer in Unawatuna and Mirissa including sailing, fishing, coastal cruises, river trips, sea kayaking, snorkeling, and boating. Surfing at Weligama can be enjoyed for a couple of hours where local instructors and boards may be hired by the hour. Koggola Lake with its many islands inhabited with several species of birds, is another wonderful experience. Day trips can be organized to Sinharaha Rainforest and Yala National Park, as well as whale watching and trips to the local turtle hatcheries.
Please note that the villa is also home to a black labrador, Kala, and two teenage puppies (Nika and Gemma) who live permanently at Auraliya. Kala LOVES people and mopes when the house is empty. They know they are not allowed in the bedrooms and will patiently wait outside the door for you to return from inside. There is a large pen that they can go into, but only for short periods of time.
