South Point Abbey is an old Dutch house that has been carefully restored. Its walls were built with coral and lime stone by master craftsmen almost two centuries ago. It has beautiful wooden floors upstairs, and a panoramic view of the sea and coastlines from its 2 upstairs bedrooms and spacious balcony.
There are 3 double bedrooms and one twin room each with an en-suite bathrooms. The twin room interconnects to one of the double so is ideal for families. The third bedroom is located on the ground floor. There is a spacious living area, a modern kitchen, study and a wide verandah leading onto the garden, swimming pool and beach.
The swimming pool has an infinity edge and a Jacuzzi bench. The garden goes down to the beach. The sea is safe for swimming and excellent for snorkelling.
Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to cook for themselves if they wish or they can leave the hard work up to the household cook. Sri Lankan or western dishes can be prepared and the staff take great pride in laying out a perfect table with local handloom table mats and fresh flowers.
Meals can be served at the dining table inside the house, on the verandah or in the garden according to guest preferences.
The villa comes with a cook/maid/gardener/night watchman and a manager who visits the property when needed.
On the beach in front of the abbey small bounders have been placed to prevent erosion during the monsoon. One must step over them to get onto the beach.
Occasionally noise of a passing vehicle can be heard, especially in the upstairs toilets at certain times of the day. This is not constant however and so should not put perspective guests off the property.
