Tamarind Hill

Sitting on a 3 acre hillside plot with views of the ocean this stunning manor house was originally built in the 1800s and occupied by a British Admiral followed later by a High Court judge of the colonial era.

Acquired by island style and interior design guru - Taru - a few years ago, Tamarind Hill has been beautifully refurbished and extended to create an intimate and sophisticated boutique hotel.

Set around a huge central courtyard the hotel offers 11 rooms and 2 suites offering the ultimate in comfort, stylish design and modern amenities. The two suites occupy the entire first floor of the original mansion, with the 11 rooms en-circling the courtyard.

With its differing standards of accommodation Tamarind Hill is an especially good choice for couples on varying budgets who are looking for an intimate setting within easy reach of Galle. Alternatively the two suites on the top floor of the house can be linked to provide one of the most spacious and spectacular living spaces for families or a small group.

In one corner of the courtyard a bar with comfortable lounge area and dining facilities offers an outdoor area for drinks and dining, while there is a second more formal bar/lounge/dining area on the ground floor of the main house.

The food is modern rather than traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, and of an exceptional quality. Combined with personal service Tamarind Hill is quickly getting a great reputation for its food in the Galle area.

Just beyond the outside lounge/dining area there is a very impressive pool with lovely views out onto the jungle behind the property.

All the rooms are en-suite, air-conditioned and have TV. There is excellent WI-FI connection all over the property. You can buy connection cards from reception.

The hotel is 4km from Galle and just minutes to the nearest beach.
