WHAT ITS GOT
The main part of the house comprises of two double en-suite bedrooms, a triple children’s room, separate outside bathroom, living room with TV/DVD/iPod dock, kitchen and large sweeping veranda. In the coach house which is located to the right of the main house there is a separate en-suite bedroom with 2 double beds, writing desk and open air sides. This is a beautiful space perfect for romancing couples.
Both buildings look out onto the large infinity edged swimming pool, patio with barbeque area, manicured gardens (that look especially lovely at night when lit by oil lanterns) and views across the jungle covered valley below the house. Hidden within the gardens there is also a massage sala, yoga pavilion, volleyball lawn/net and a decked platform perfect for watching the sunset over the ocean.
FOOD & DRINK
Satori has a lovely cook called Madori, who can prepare delicious & healthy cuisine including traditional local curries and a number of western dishes. We enjoyed coriander seed encrusted tuna, with pineapple chutney, rice and salad. For breakfast we had papaya with yogurt and muesli and then eggs cooked to order.
Daily food requirements can be discussed with the staff, who will then shop for guests accordingly. Food is charged at cost price and so extremely reasonable. Guests are welcome to accompany staff to the market and may also like to use the kitchen/outdoor barbeque themselves. Madori will be happy to assist.
Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own alcoholic beverages to the villa. The staff are happy to purchase what they can in Galle on behalf of guests, but there is a better selection as you come through the arrivals terminal in Colombo.
There are no restaurants within walking distance of Satori, but many that can be reached by 3 wheeler taxis. Please request a copy of our Sri Lanka Guide.
LOCATION
Satori is located 10 minutes inland from Unawatuna on the South Coast of Sri Lanka. Transfer times from Colombo airport are between 4-5 hours. Galle/Galle Fort is approximately a 20 minute drive away. Unawatuna has a large popular beach, but guests may also wish to explore beaches further down the coast such as Mirissa.
