Villa Rosa is a small hillside hotel, with 10 rooms and stunning views of the Mahaweli River.


The main building of the hotel has 6 bedrooms facing the river and the distant mountains while another building, with 4 bedrooms, looks towards the forest hill of Bahirawakanda.

All rooms are equipped with hot water, mosquito nets and ceiling fans (a/c is not required at this altitude). The hotel can offer single rooms, double rooms and 2 bedroom family suites. There is also a honeymoon suite with a huge roof-top garden.

There are spacious common areas including a library and TV-lounge, breakfast and dining-room, terraces, balconies, viewing platforms in the garden, table tennis table and yoga platform, as well as an Ayurveda pavilion. Unfortunately there is no swimmingpool at Villa Rosa, but guests can use the pool facilities at a nearby hotel. There is a free shuttle to the pool and also into town from the hotel.

The menu at Villa Rosa is maninly traditional - rice and curry. However they also offer garlic prawns, steamed fish, salads, spaghetti and a number of different desserts. The chef is happy to give cooking demonstrations should you wish and they can also provide picnics for day trips.
