With just one main road and a population of just 1000 people, Koh Tao is still just a bejewelled dot on Thailand's major tourism map. The island is mainly known for its excellent diving and access to cheap PADI scuba courses, but a willingness to explore the deep blue is by no means a pre-requisite. Non-divers could quite happily spend a week on Koh Tao drinking in views of the mist covered hills and enjoying the deserted white sand beaches. Koh Tao is honeymoon heaven!! Should you wish to do some diving however, there is no better place during the summer months from March to October than Koh Tao.
Located slightly off the main tourist route the choice of private villas on Koh Tao is rather limited but at the same time those properties that are available are charming, tropical and extremely affordable.
